A Blessed Memorial Day
Friends in Christ,
In recent weeks I have been slowly working my way through filmmaker Ken Burn’s Word War II documentary series called simply, The War. It has certainly brought into sharper focus for me the significance of our country’s annual Memorial Day observance this weekend. So many men and women have made — and continue to make — the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. This weekend, amidst the celebrations and sales, may we take a few moments to give thanks for their courage and sacrifice, and remember them before God. May God grant to each one of them eternal rest.
On a separate note, we look forward to our annual Episcopal visitation from Bishop Mathes next Sunday, June 1st. It will be a wonderful time of celebration including Confirmations and First Holy Communions. Bishop Mathes will preach and celebrate at both the 8am and 10am morning masses.
See you in church!
