A Religious Experience

A large art installation (a work of art that you walk into) by artist and parishioner Adam Belt is on display as part of a temporary ‘pop-up’ museum called Wonderspaces in Mission Valley. Adam’s work titled A Religious Experience, is a 30x30ft room that is dark except for stars created by poking holes in the walls. Rays of light emanate from the stars combining the religious connotation of rays of light with the representation of the night sky. The work is an extrapolation of a smaller installation some of you may have seen at the La Jolla Athenaeum Music and Arts Library in 2012. Wonderspaces will be open through July 30th before moving on to Dallas TX. The show is kid friendly and tickets are $24 for adults, $20 for students, seniors and military, and $16 for children ages 3-12. Tickets must be purchased beforehand at https://www.wonderspaces.com/tickets/. Further a short article by 0810 Magazine about Adam and his process with pictures taken at St. Michael’s by the Sea can be read here: http://0810magazine.com/?s=adam+belt.
