Narthex Expansion Design Project on the Horizon
Friends in Christ,
This Sunday we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost! It is the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, and the Christian Church was born. Everyone is welcome to join in a special all-parish family birthday party in Ede Hall at 9.15am to celebrate the birth of the church!
I also have some very exciting news to share on behalf of the Vestry. As you are aware, there are still a few outstanding projects that remain to be completed per our 2012 Shine! Capital Campaign: refurbishing the bell tower, completion of the church bathroom, and remodeling the “back wall” of the church. The latter “back wall” project has collided with a burgeoning vision to beautify and maximize the use of the surrounding church landscape. That vision in a nutshell, is to create a more inviting, welcoming environment that is conducive to community building. I am very excited to share that God in his goodness has provided for us a perfect match for this vision! Lance O’Donnell, of o2Architecture, will be partnering with St. Michael’s to help create a Master Plan. Lance is a devotee of Albert Frey (the famous architect who designed our sanctuary), he is an award winning architect who specializes in sustainable design . . . and he surfs in Carlsbad on the weekends! Thanks be to God!
Here’s where YOU come in. The first step in this process is for us to gather as a parish community to discuss this vision, to share with Lance our hopes for the sanctuary and surrounding landscape, and to get YOUR input! Please mark your calendars for Sunday, June 29th at 11.30am for a special meeting open to all members of St. Michael’s to learn more about the Narthex Expansion Design Project!
See you in church!
