VBS is a safe, welcoming environment where children learn about Jesus, teenagers learn valuable life skills, and adults step into mentoring roles… But the St. Michael’s program doesn’t stop there! We encourage campers and volunteers to look beyond themselves to the larger community. For the past several years, St. Michael’s has purposefully participated in meaningful, kid-driven outreach projects called Operation Kid-to-Kid.

This year, children will learn what happens in communities where clean water is not available, and they will understand the tremendous difference a simple water filtration system can make. Drinking contaminated water leads to disease and even death for hundreds of thousands of people each year. These deaths are completely preventable. Over the course of the week, campers will bring coins and dollars to support Living Water International in their efforts to bring clean water to the people of Peru.

Living Water International has been cultivating sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene programs, while witnessing to their faith in Christ, for over 25 years. They have completed more than 17,000 water projects serving roughly 5 million people in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe. Working alongside communities and local governments, Living Water International helps install taps, hand pumps, and rain catchment systems. But there’s more!

Living Water International provides sanitation and hygiene programs that teach communities how to keep their water safe and prevent disease. Additionally, they empower communities to create sustainable water programs and repair water systems when they break down. Finally, recognizing the connection between the physical and spiritual, they strive to build relationships with local church and community members and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action. Their ultimate goal is to see local churches equipped and motivated to carry on this vital ministry.

2017 promises to be another memorable year at St. Michael’s Vacation Bible School. Please join us in praying for an impactful outreach project.

To God be the Glory!
