Carlsbad Music Festival
August 2 - August 4Free
Join us for the 16th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival! We love how this event brings the whole community together to hang out, support the arts, and enjoy some terrific music. St. Michael’s by-the-Sea will once again serve as the “festival hub.” All performances are FREE (suggested donations requested).
Please note carefully the following details:
Parking: St. Michael’s parking lots are closed to the public during the festival. They will only be accessible to musicians, staff, and those purchasing a VIP Pass. If you attend (and I hope you do!), please plan ahead! Consider carpooling, taking the train, or parking at the large public lot by the train station. Parking in the Village will be very tight.
Church: Weekend services at St. Michael’s will proceed as usual. Parking lots ARE available for church goers, this includes both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. If you attend Saturday evening, you’ll see the festival in full swing! Simply tell the parking attendant you will be attending Mass. Our Sunday morning routines will not be impeded, as the festival does not resume until after church.
St. Michael’s performers: We have two parish family connections in the weekend lineup! Evan Kim, St. Michael’s violinist extraordinaire, will be performing some of his original compositions on Friday, August 2nd, at 5:40pm in the chapel. And the Renaissance Institute of Music led by parishioner Kim Stephens-Doll will be performing an original composition created for the children’s book “Mole Music.” This kid-friendly performance takes place after church, Sunday, August 4th at 12:15pm in the Parish Hall.
