Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

This traditional supper is a long-standing practice of faithful Christians preparing for the Lenten disciplines of fasting and abstinence by using up baking supplies and other foods of celebration prior to Ash Wednesday. The word shrove comes from the word shriven, which means to be purged, or made clean, through a penitent life.
