At St. Michael’s we have a small team of 10 volunteers who provide pastoral care calls and visits plus communion visits to members of the Church who are unable to attend services and participate in fellowship events. We are currently visiting 24 people on a regular basis each month.
So far this year, as of early November, we have visited 59 different Church members, which included providing communion 314 times. In the year 2014 we have conducted monthly meetings, which included reviewing upcoming visit dates and schedules as well as studying Scripture passages as a group, lead by Fr. Ken. This equips the team with the knowledge needed to take the Word out on our visits and calls. The team is currently making decisions on whether to pursue formal training in either the Stephen’s ministry, which focuses on pastoral care, or the Order of St. Luke, which provides training in healing prayers. Both of these options will provide the Pastoral Care team with excellent skills to use in our service to the Lord.
As a team we are all very grateful to our Lord for providing this opportunity to serve Him and our Parish family through this ministry. It is spiritually fulfilling to the people we visit and also provides the chance for us to grow in faith.
