The purpose of St. Michael’s annual Grandparent’s Day celebration is not a mere acknowledgement of a “Hallmark Holiday”. Christians are given a Biblical imperative to honor relationships between generations. At this year’s event, our young people were challenged to discover ways to give thanks to God by serving the elders in their lives (Psalm 145:4)). Our elders were encouraged to pray for the young people in their lives, and to take courage in the Lord’s deliverance (Isaiah 46:4). The atmosphere in the Parish Hall was filled with history, mutual respect, and love. Relationships were strengthened with nostalgic music and snacks, picture books and crafts.
