Missions Madness is an opportunity for the youth in our parish to participate in acts of service for our local community and abroad. At Missions Madness we are working to be a beacon of light by sharing in Christ’s work of reconciliation and healing in our own small way. From packing sack lunches for the homeless in our community to sending Christmas gifts to children in the Philippines, our youth are stepping out and, by their actions, demonstrating that they care.
Last Sunday for Missions Madness, in recognition of child abuse prevention month, SOUL Youth students handmade 81 thank you cards for the volunteers of Casa de Emparo, an organization that serves children, youth, and families by treating and preventing child abuse and neglect.
Students also learned about Invisible Children, providing perspective and understanding of child abuse and mistreatment abroad. At their heart, these gatherings are an opportunity for the youth at St. Michael’s to step out of their everyday lives, and begin to live more fully the lives to which they are called; to become people who serve and share the love of Christ in their community and throughout the world.
